Again we need to position Miss Chew as a TM who returning from 3 months sabbatical and who is NOT involve in the past few months transformation / restructuring...

The Mayor also did not bother to update me on the conversation outcome between Miss Chew & The Mayor...

When The Mayor was done with the team, The Mayor corner me to another meeting room...so, I also cheekily ask...will Miss Chew comes back...The Mayor's answer was...The Mayor will advise Miss Chew not to come back...hmm...

If Miss Chew have found a job - Miss Chew don't have to come back. It is only when Miss Chew have not found a job...Miss Chew will come back...I guess Miss Chew's timing is also right...come back and straight away meet with the new owners...also considers as a new job in a new company...

When The Mayor gather all of us in the meeting room for a final de-brief (after the Town Hall session)...The Mayor have explain that business will be as usual for now...The Mayor will have a call with Miss Chew and it will be Miss Chew's call whether Miss Chew wants to come back or not...and when one of the team members ask - who will lead them in the interim...so, by default - I will lead the team for the time being...

The Mayor (I can sense) still a little bit hesitate in announcing it...I am not sure why...because of Miss Chew will come back to claim the place?

It was a surprise to me that The Mayor offers me a lifeline or a life jacket...in The Mayor's own words...hahaha...The Mayor offered me to relocate to SG...I ask The Mayor - if I do move to SG, then what I will be doing when I get there...it's crowded over there...Miss Y-C is there, Nimal, The SG Brand Lady, The Partnership Lady...I will just sunk to the bottom...The Mayor's reply was not to think about the job first...

However, on Friday - one of the buyers informed me that - all of the LTs have also approached their respective HOCs to join SG alternatively...hmm...was it a prepared script? Hahaha...I no longer feel special...or is it...they know that something will happen...maybe they know that the new owners will remove us first...

Nonetheless...on February 23rd - the day have finally arrived...after years of rumors circulating & viral-ing around - G13's Hong Kie owners have decided to exit the Malaysia market and hand the leadership to a group of Malaysian businessman. They own departmental store format and are keen to have a stake in our groceries business that is resilient-proof. 

And with that, all of the Western / European players have left the local market; only leaves the Thai's Lotus's and Japanese's Aeon. The Dutch's Makro, French's Carrefour and British's Tesco have already bid their farewell. Now, its all the regional; as in the Asian and local players left to compete among themselves.

Meanwhile over in Singapore...Miss Y-C have already been transferred out to the Fresh Team...according to Christopher - Miss Y-C is more on POSM store execution; to fill in the gap in the implementation stage.

The Partnership Lady have already join the team; working together with Nimal. From Uncle Andy's perspective - with the announcement that the Partnership is seconded away; it seems that The Mayor have lost 1 portfolio and 2 key staffs (Miss Y-C and another Partnership Manager). I guess it's something that The Mayor know for quite some time...The Mayor have always been casual about it because The Mayor knows that the day will arrive. And yes...any issues that arises...The Mayor will sort it out in The Mayor way...hahaha...

According to Uncle Andy - The Brand Lady only talks, poor in execution. The Partnership Lady could not be bother...The Partnership Lady's appointment is like hiring a gardener to do a chef's work...but I think that The Mayor is thoughtful in securing headcounts...The Partnership Lady is soft-spoken, not suited for Commercial and specializes in back-end & technical work.
