Prayer Marathon

Pray Continually – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Do you struggle to maintain a consistent prayer life? Many of us do. We know that prayer is important, but it can also be downright difficult. We have moments of deep communion with God and then we have times when it feels like we’re just going through the motions. Why do we struggle so in our prayers?

The life of faith is a marathon. The ups, the downs and the plateaus in our prayer life are a reflection of this race. And just as in a marathon we need to keep running, so we keep praying. The point is: Don’t give up!

That is God’s encouragement too. The Apostle Paul said, pray continually, keep on praying and devote yourselves to prayer. All of these statements carry the idea of remaining steadfast and continuing in the work of prayer.

And because God, our heavenly Father, is a personal being, we can develop a time of close communion with Him, just as we do with our close human relationships. A.W. Tozer writes that as we learn to pray, our prayer life can grow from the initial most casual brush to the fullest, most intimate communion of which the human soul is capable. And that’s what we really want – deep communion with God. It happens when we keep praying.

Dear Father, we often struggle to spend time with You. Help us to make the time, and help us sense Your goodness and presence.

There is never a day when we don’t need to pray.

mathematically induced brain drain

Marcus: My neighbor (referring to Ursula) recently not so stable again. I’m staying away from her. Scared scared.

Paige: She came to me last week crying.

Marcus: Huh!! She’s trying to get closer to Emerson, Emerson can sense it, Emerson feels uncomfortable…

Paige: Emerson came to me just now say want to tell me something P&C.

Marcus: Why she cry Paige? These gong sam kai story showing in the team again. They are dangerous.

Paige: Ursula dun feel secure cos of the Food Operating Model structure. Also that 2 thing not happy wif her business plan. Or range review.

Marcus: My Jecca told me to stay away from them…I agree with her. Why is Ursula worry about FOM? She won’t loose her job.

Paige: The structure.

Marcus: She just worry her department become smaller department…what is wrong? She want face lor, want to be the biggest sales SCM.

Sigh…poor Ursula…Ursula is ambitious…she work so hard, in the end she have nothing…of course she is upset…how can this happen to her…she want the highest office of all, then mana tahu, along came Maximoff & Miguel that changes everything. Ingat that, Barry, Leonardo & Marcus have already been eliminated, mana tahu, muncul pula Emerson & Amelia. Alice is no threat to Ursula. Ursula have been fighting for it her whole life. Ursula is also smart…finally realize that Emerson can influence Miguel & Maximoff, but Emerson is also not the stupid type…Emerson can turn the tides around…good luck Ursula, be very careful.

Alice is such a BITCH. Previously, Marcus have created this G13 WatsApp Chat Group…Baldwin was in it earlier on, then Baldwin exit out. Only left Fandi & myself. No one dare to remove me…Marcus did not, Ursula did not, Emerson did not, Miguel did not, not even Maximoff…The Witch really hates me…celaka betul.

Zero Point Five Love

So, on last week Friday – Team Baz have a makan – makan session at TGIF, Subang Parade.

Some observation ya…hahaha…

(1) The food has arrived, everyone was there…only Stewart, Celtic, Mrs. Simon & myself was late. Mrs. Simon has to get some stuff…while the rest of the 3 of us have to get birthday cakes.

(2) So, Stephanie & I was first to arrive…there was an empty seat next to MT…so, I decide to sit there…but then this Tin Min pointed out that my pre-ordered dish was allocated next to Tin Min. Adoi, cannot get up close & personal with MT…but actually it was not that bad after all. I may be seated next to Tin Min but I get to look at MT face to face. If I were seated next to MT, I don’t think I can see her eyes and expressions that clearly.

(3) MT is a fussy eater, very choosy, picky. The fish is tasteless…according to MT, so MT didn’t want to eat it, gave the whole thing to Tin Min instead.

(4) Stewart said that MT eats a lot…maybe if the dish suits her taste bud, but I can see that MT is also a small eater.

(5) Jonas & MT…not bad wor…have some general knowledge on the current Olympics sports.

(6) Stephanie mention that MT’s dressing is very bergaya…like kongsi gelap…hahaha…

(7) As I didn't seat next to MT, then this Celtic came along, I really thought that this Celtic will really sit next to MT. But mana tahu, Celtic didn't. When Celtic ask & saw that the pre-ordered dish was not Celtic's, Celtic immediately took another seat next to it when the pre-ordered dish was Celtic. Somemore, this Celtic put Celtic's bag on the chair next to MT. Like creating a barrier between Celtic & MT. Normal human reaction, I think lah...will take a seat next to MT and just swap the dishes right? Something is wrong with the both of them :)

Twenty things to do at age 30 to make you feel great at 50

1. Don't smoke. If you've started, stop immediately "If you could see me now, I'm down on my poor, crackling knees begging you to at least consider stopping smoking," writes one person. It’s expensive, smells gross, and is 100% guaranteed to cause health problems. It's time to give up.

2. Use sun cream. Do you want wrinkles and thin skin from sun damage and bruises from just lightly touching the side of a box and having your skin peel off? Go ahead, enjoy lying in the sun without sunblock.

3. Start saving money. Even if it's just a tiny bit. Yes, this is a boring suggestion, but it's true. In your 30s, the average person has a lot of disposable income, some of which can almost always easily be set aside for use later in life. Plus, building the habit of saving early means you'll continue it further down the line.

4. Maintain (or repair) relationships with parents and siblings.
Even if you have very complicated relationships with them, and sometimes even hate each other, you still need to get on with them. Family ties are extremely important. Soon or later you'll understand that your family is the most valuable thing you'll ever have.

5. Collect memories instead of things. You are the sum of your experiences. Don't wake up when you're 50 and realize that you've wasted life gathering possessions. Memories won't depreciate and can't be burned in a fire.

6. Give something back. Give to others so you feel the goodness that service brings. However you give, do it with your full heart, soul, and effort. Expect nothing in return.

7. Take up sport. Get into an active lifestyle right now, then you'll be a lot healthier by 50. Don't gain weight and take regular exercise. Look after yourself.

8. Learn to be content with what you have. Happiness is what matters far more than worldly success. If you are content with what you have then you may be a bit less likely to end up a millionaire, but you will have a happier life. And if you do become a wealthy person - is no reason why not, you'll be a more happy, fulfilled and productive wealthy person.

9. Don't delay pursuing your life goals. Want to buy a house? Have kids? Write a book? Get a second degree or advanced degree? Change your career? Learn to play a new musical instrument? Learn to cook gourmet meals? Try scuba diving? Run for public office? Start a business and be self-employed? Then start today. It's easy to put things off. "I'll get to that someday." But it's really true that time starts accelerating as you enter your 30's, and it keeps accelerating. The time that you'll get around to those dreams should be now.

10. Get some sleep. A dark room or sleep shades will block out light. No bright screens before bedtime. Go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time.

11. Take care of your teeth. Go to the freaking dentist already. Get your little cavities fixed as they come up. Unlike many body health issues, dental problems only get worse -- and things like crowns and implants are uncomfortable, time-consuming and expensive. If you have a good savings and income, the bills won't be the painful thing -- but there's no getting around the pain and the time suck.

12. Be curious. Get out of the house and have an adventure right now.
Make it as big as you can possibly manage, take lots of pictures, throw caution to the wind, take on the risk. If possible, include someone you're close to - make a BIG memory. It needs to be measured in days, not hours or minutes. You'll still be smiling about it when you're old.

13. Stop eating crap. You can make a lot of money in 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s,...90s to buy the whole world when you are at age 50 or beyond. But, you cannot buy your health. Give up on fast food right now at age 30.

14. Read at least 10 books a year. Your brain never stops growing, so exercise it with media that matters.

15. Learn to meditate. The list of benefits is endless, it only costs you a small amount of time a day, the change in your life and the people you love will be amazing. And compared to ten years ago, there are long lists of scientific studies to back it up.

16. Travel. As much as possible, whenever you can. Traveling will change you like little else can. It will put you in places that will force you to care for issues that are bigger than you. It's about experiencing true risk and adventure so you don't have to live in fear for the rest of your life. And...inspiring others to step out of that fear, too.

17. Stop comparing yourself with anyone else. When you reach 50, you'll be completely indifferent what impression you make on those around you. Find your own path. Be strong.

18. Keep a diary. You will definitely forget more of your precious memories than you'll remember. Your written records will entertain and endear in your future. Your computer should make this archiving all the easier to implement and retain/recall. Put files on memory sticks with photos. Your kids (or surviving spouse) may someday love you for it.

19. Take care of your friends. Choose people who make you feel like you already are your best self, who challenge you by their example, and who you genuinely enjoy. Nurture them. Laugh with them. Be silly, too. Contribute to their survival and enjoyment of life. Take the time every week to be in touch.

20. Buy your own house. This is of course, not so simple as it once was in the current climate. But do whatever you can to ensure you have your own place to go home to and relax at the end of each day. And it should be nearly paid for by the time you're 50.

Untrained.Unpolished.Uneducated.

Well, MT is back to the office today. This is a bit strange I find.
MT walks into the pantry, yes…I am stalking her a little these days…not stalking lah, just want to create opportunities to bump into her...what is wrong with me...so I also went into the pantry…hoping that our paths will cross. Indeed it did cross…I went in, she came out…and this is the strange part…as we bump into each other, it is common courtesy from me to say…oops, sorry…as I was about to block her path…she pula reply…I am going there to buy things to eat…at the back of the pantry, there are 2 big vending machines…strange isn’t it…MT don’t have to tell me this at all. But why she did...

Despite losing the gold to Indonesia, Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon are still the nation’s heroes who have made history as the first badminton mixed doubles pair to reach the Olympics final and win a silver medal for the country. History is in the making for Malaysia’s badminton. They were certainly not among the medal hopes of the Olympic Council of Malaysia when they announced their medals target.

Azizulhasni Awang also makes history by becoming the first national cyclist to win an Olympic medal with a bronze win in keirin.

My first Uber ride :) Well, my car got bang by a 21 year old kid…his name was Irwan…I was at a traffic light, Irwan could not brake in time, so he bang into my bumper, it cracked…this is my third bumper change by the way since last year…so, I’ve got to send the car to the workshop…and I didn’t want Celtic to give me a ride home because Celtic did not know that I have already moved house…so, in the end, I try Uber. I was really unsure on the whole process...but then the Uber driver call me and voila...I am being Uber drived in a Nissan Almera.

Who Am I Working For?

Solomon talked about the need to keep a balance in life with our work. He wrote – fools fold their hands and ruin themselves. We don’t want to go to the extreme of being lazy, but neither do we want to fall into the trap of being a workaholic. Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. In other words, it is better to have less and enjoy it more. Sacrificing relationships at the altar of success is unwise. Achievement is fleeting, while relationships are what make our life meaningful, rewarding and enjoyable.

We can learn to work to live and not to live to work by choosing to apportion our time wisely. The Lord can give us this wisdom as we seek Him and trust Him to be our Provider.

Lord, show me if my priorities are skewed and where I need to make changes. Thank You for the gift of family and friends.

God’s Way

God has different plans for each of us. We might feel that others have an easier assignment, or a more glamorous role to play. But if our loving Father has hanpicked us for our task, who are we to whisper – I can’t do this?

God uses ordinary people to carry out His extraordinary plans.

I Took A Pill In Ibiza

May love and laughter light your days
And warm your heart and home

Wherever you may roam
May peace and plenty bless your world
With joy that long endures
May all life’s passing seasons
Bring the best to you and yours!

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad
Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you
Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away
But never forget to remember
The BLESSINGS that come each day.

The Stepping Stone

Nothing is more abhorrent to God than to see within His people the desire for self-control and self-dependence. This is not because of any egotism in the Almighty that requires Him to be the boss, but because He Knows that when we try to run our lives on our own terms we demean ourselves and fall short of His plans and purposes for us. We must face the fact that we are helplessly dependent and that God and God alone is independent. He can exist without us but we cannot exist without Him.

The stepping stone from independence to dependence is always repentance. There is simply no other way that it can be done. That is why in all revivals the issue of repentance becomes paramount. In revival God underlines in a dramatic way the truth that the path to a continuous relationship with Him is through repentance. Never forget this. The key to all change is in a returning to God, for every effort to change must invoke at its core a shift in direction – away from dependence on one’s own resources to dependence on the living God.

Why We Need Revival

We have seen that revival is a time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
Today we examine the question: Why do we keep on needing such experiences?

Note carefully what I am now about to say: the cause of all spiritual lapse is rooted in the desire for independence. Initially, when we enter into a new relationship with God, we are conscious of a great sense of dependence upon Him, but unfortunately after a while something rises up within us and clamors for independence. And it is this, more than any other single thing, that causes us to let go of what God gives us.

The Great Divide

You see, there are only 2 basic attitudes we can adopt to life in this world – one is the attitude of faith, the other the attitude of unbelief. One commentator puts it like this: either we view our lives in terms of our belief in God and the conclusions we are entitled to draw from that; or our outlook is based upon a rejection of God and the corresponding denials.

Our lives are either based on faith – or they are not. So this is what life comes down to: we accept the government of God in the universe or we do not. Those who reject His rule, whether they realize it or not, lives that are shot through with doubt and fear. Those who receive His rule live lives of quiet confidence and faith.

What Is The Father’s Glory?

Is your life fruitful? Does it yield a rich harvest from which your Lord will derive eternal pleasure? If not, then perhaps the reason is that you are a corn of wheat afraid to die. You draw back from experiences which are designed, not to demean you, but to develop you. And if you are afraid to die, then, as Jesus put it, you remain only a single seed.

A women once came up to me after I had preached a sermon on this theme, and said: why is God so cruel in demanding so much of us? She meant – Why does God demand the one and only thing I own – me, myself? It seemed to her that she would be consenting to her own extinction. She saw only what she had to give up – not what she had to gain.

Reflections

Let’s remind ourselves of what the Psalmist has taught us. Life is filled with many painful and perplexing problems which at times cause us to cry out – Lord, why don’t You intervene? Yet just as our feet are about to slide, something always comes to us – an idea or a thought, which, if we hold on to it, serves to halt our downward progress. We discover that when we act responsibly and do what is right, even though we do not feel like it, we put ourselves in the way of experiencing inward change.

But it is not God’s purpose to bring about only a little change – He desires to bring about a lot of change. How does he achieve this? He does it by bringing us into His presence and revealing to us His Word. There we discover that our greatest problems are not the ones that are outside us but the ones that are inside us – our perspectives are wrong. Real change comes about not when our feelings are soothed but when our thinking is changed. Changed thinking leads to changed desires. When our perspectives are controlled by the Word rather than by the world, then we will experience inner peace. The Psalmist resolved to draw near God and stay close to Him so that he could see life steadily and see it whole.

Take & Tell

How do we go about the task of keeping close to God?
Firstly, we do so by prayer. The person who keeps close to God is the one who is always talking to God. Many definitions of prayer have been given, I add another: prayer is co-operation with God. In prayer, you align your desires, your will, your life to God. You and God become agreed on life desires, life purposes, life plans and you work them out together.

Secondly, we do it by constant study of scriptures. God’s Word is alive with meaning, and when you read it something will happen to you, for the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edge sword. Expect it to speak to you – and it will.

We do it, thirdly, by sharing with others. Remember, nothing is ours if we do not share it. When we share, the things go deeper inside us. We must share what God is doing, both with our fellow Christians and with non-Christians also. We take and we tell – we take and we tell; these, we must never forget, are the 2 heartbeats of the Christian experience.

The Heart Of the Issue

Here I am, living a godly life, keeping my heart and hands clean, avoiding sin, meditating on the things of God and devoting myself to a life pleasing God, yet despite this I am facing all kinds of troubles. What’s the advantage in serving God if he doesn’t protect me?

We begin now to see the roots of the envy to which the Psalmist referred earlier: For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. Envy is born out of two things: ignorance and a wrong comparison.

Take, first, a wrong comparison. Almost all or problems begin in a wrong comparison. How true this is. We compare our looks, our height, our income, our homes, our training and our abilities with those of others and soon we lose sight of our own individuality and specialness. To compare ourselves with Christ is a healthy spiritual discipline, but to indulge in comparison with those we think are more prosperous and fortunate than we are is direct road to envy.

O God, save me, I pray, from the habit of wrongly comparing myself with others. Help me to satisfy the impulse I have for making comparisons only in a way that will yield spiritual gain – by comparing myself only with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Be Honest With Yourself

I am all for a positive approach to life, but positivism first involves facing things realistically no matter how negative they may be. How can you know what you need to be positive about until you have clearly seen what is troubling you? Once an issue is faced, and faced realistically, then the matter can and must be dealt with in a positive way. But to try and be positive without bringing into clear focus what is wrong is like building a house on sand. No matter how much cement is poured into the foundations, and no matter how well the walls are reinforced, when a storm comes it will sink without trace.

Father, drive this truth deeply into my spirit, for I see that it is not enough to be honest with You and others, I must also be honest with myself. Help me get there and stay there. In Jesus’ name I ask it. Amen.

Why We Are Sometimes Drained

Problems that are buried inside us rather than brought out into the light, work to drain us of spiritual energy. It takes a lot of emotional energy to keep things repressed. This is why people who repeatedly use the defense of repression end up feeling overtired. Healthy people are those who, like the Psalmist in Psalm 73, bring their thoughts and feelings into awareness – no matter how un-spiritual those thoughts and feelings may appear to be.

Father, I now begin to see why You bring me face to face with so many disturbing questions, for You know the havoc that is wrought within when issues are ignored or denied. Help me face anything and everything. In Your name. Amen.

The Desire For God

The ultimate test of the Christian life is whether we desire God for Himself or for what He gives. Each one of us must ask ourselves: Do I desire God more than forgiveness? More than release from my problems? More than healing of my condition? More than gifts and abililities? How tragic that our prayers can be full of pleadings that show, when they are examined, that we are more interested in enjoying God’s blessings than we are in enjoying God.

O Father, forgive me that so often I am concerned more with Your gifts than I am with You – the Giver. Help me to long after You, not because of what You give me, but because of who You are. In Jesus’ name I ask it Amen.

Gobsmacked

I’m kind of a big fan of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi these days…gosh, they are funny.

Best Of British Luck

Ok, Stewart was on an emergency leave on Thursday & Friday. Stewart has to fly out to Singapore because Stewart’s aunt have passed away. Celtic pula, was also on leave. So Mak Tiri was the proxy.

Of course, I exchange watsapp messages with Mak Tiri…hahaha…Mak Tiri ask the team to do a Stock Management worksheet. There are a total of 4 worksheets inside the file. The first excel worksheet was the Returning Worksheet. I do lor. The second excel worksheet is the stop/active status. Surprisingly, some of the columns have been fill up. So, I was wondering whether the worksheet has been formula in such a way from the first worksheet…so, I apps MT. But obviously, MT doesn’t understand my questions…so when MT did replies me back…I know that MT doesn’t understand it at all. So, no choice, I have to call MT.

This is the surprise part…MT giggle…no Hi, no Hello, nothing but giggles...MT replied back, have to call right, to clarify…ok, so this indicates that MT knows that MT did not answer my questions nor understand it…hahaha. Then, only I found out that for the second worksheet, I have to fill up only the blanks, the rest MT already fill up. Then, in this second excel worksheet, some items are stop in certain stores, some stores are active for ordering in certain stores, so, we also must put in our remarks. Mana tahu, this MT did not put in the full details properly.

MT: Hi J___. Yesterday u asked me…D item does have 2 rows…all items highlighted in yellow have 2 rows…maybe u ter filter.

Me: I am a small genius. I already figure out yesterday. I filter my dept. Should b filter by color. Actually should have fill up the supplier column as well…

MT: The list from Customer Service. Need to touch up a lot already. No time to copy paste the supplier.

Me: Ok ok muschas gracias. Appreciacion.

MT: Haha

MT is so cold…yet I felt that I make her laugh…actually, MT don’t have to response after I thank MT.

This is the bicycle that Alice bought for me, as my farewell gift. I don’t know whether Alice got share it with Marcus or Ursula or not. Well, what happen was…I have never ride that bike myself…because it’s far too big for my size…my feet cannot touch the ground, scare that I might fell over…hahaha…actually, it is a very good looking bike, sharp colors, hybrid, the kind that I will really like it, it was also the type that I will upgrade after I bought my foldie.

At first, I call up the supplier, asking for a one to one exchange. The supplier got mention to Alice that it is too big for me but Alice said it’s ok. But the supplier, don’t know reluctant or what…so the exchange also tak jadi.

So, eventually I sold it off. I took some pictures, posted them at Mudah.com.my…memang mudah. And I sold it off to this very nice boy who is attach to the Bukit Jalil Sports School. I have to delivered the bike to him at Endah Parade Sri Petaling. He didn’t even bargain. He paid upfront, cash on delivery of RM500. He mention that he have the budget. Unlike the rest of the enquirers who wants it between RM350 to RM400. At first, I was also doubtful whether he was a genuine buyer or not. But THANK YOU GOD, PRAISE TO THE LORD, BLESS YOU GOD for making this happen.

The boy was also very sweet...after the transaction have ended, he even watsapp me that he was very satisfied with it. I told him to enjoy the ride and I am very glad that the bike got a good owner that will take care of it very well.

The new EPL season is starting on next weekend. Very interesting. Leicester…will The Champs be able to defend their title? Can they re-create the magic of the last season? 3 brand new managers on board…managers with big personality…too big that it overshadows the clubs…Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, the good looking Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Well, Liverpool still have Jürgen Klopp and the club has brought in some new players onboard…again…players that are unknown to me…but according to the newspaper reports, these youngsters looks pretty promising…hmm…we shall see…nonetheless, their preseason matches looks pretty good…their latest was when The Reds beat Barcelona 4 – 0!

But The Reds have also shipped out Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel and Jon Flanagan too.
So – good luck to the new boys. Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic, Ragnar Klavan, Alex Manninger and Georginio Wijnaldum.
