Who’s Your Mamak?

I try to catch as much Glee episode as I can. I find the concept refreshing. It’s very different compare to Ally McBeal, Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, Gilmore Girls, House etc. Its teaching today’s students on how to accept themselves for who they are, embracing diversity, reaching out for your dreams, encouraging your peers & yourself, follow your heart, explore & discover the endless probabilities that are out there, develop your own character & personalities, do not let yourself to be drown by the voices of others, fight for what is right and amend the wrong. I love the producers who use the current mainstream music to carry out each of the episode’s core theme and story plot across the audiences. The series features numerous song covers sung onscreen by the characters. Some are even better than the original version. The students at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio are a bunch of talented youths who are struggling with their own internal issues but seeing them overcoming problems such as family, bullying, sex, dreams are so inspirational.

Sadly, actor Cory Allan Michael Monteith passed away in July this year due to a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol in a Vancouver hotel room. He plays the character of Finn Hudson. Below is the lyric of Don’t Stop Believin’ which the cast sung & perform in their first season…which is also is one of my favorite…and which is something that I need to hold on to as well :)

Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
The smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin' in the night
Streetlight, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night
Workin' hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anythin' to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues
And now the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin' in the night
Streetlight, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight, people
Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight, people
Don't stop!
