I think this is the SEA Role:

Responsible for the development and implementation of the Annual Customer and Trade plans

Drive and implement monthly Customer and Trade Plans with Commercial team, Ops team, Business MD/CEO and external suppliers to deliver sales and profit objectives through increased customer count and loyalty

Lead and execute monthly retail marketing campaigns to maximize category sales and market share

Collaborate with Commercial team and Ops team to drive the overall Customer and Trade Planning process

Lead the team to ensure timely and quality delivery of the agreed marketing calendar

Then, I think this is Miss Chew's future role: 

Work closely with Banner Marketing to implement a fully integrated Marketing strategy, including Own Brand activation

Partner with external strategic suppliers to roll out joint promotional activities

Work closely with external agencies (Creative, Media, Production) on campaign objectives. Ensure timely delivery of all marketing mix elements, in particular point of sales materials

Drive local store marketing to increase customer count for new and refurbished stores

Manage approvals for supplier in-store visuals and activations, ensuring brand guidelines are adhered

Organize supplier events

Work closely with inhouse Visual Merchandize team and Operations team and ensure effective store execution 

Ensure retail communications are in line with brand equity and new harmonized brand guidelines

Put system in place to improve work processes and achieve greater synergy and efficiency

Manage the retail marketing budget, track expenses to ensure budget objectives are met

Partnership with landlords and banks to drive customer count

Contribute to the building of a high performance team by growing the Marketing expertise of the team

Sharing of retail marketing best practices across SEA

But hor...oh no...the above all combine into 1 is the job description for Retail Marketing Lead...gulp...then what do I do then...aiyoyo...it was advertised in LinkedIn for our HBA neighbour...I will be replaced...I will be jobless...adoi...but here is the best part...God has a plan for me...

Gradually, I know Samuel beh song me already...sigh...because I am moving Anis's Business partnership portfolio gradually to Samuel's court...hahaha...ya mah...The Mayor already mention that Miss Chew will lead Malaysia, Samuel will be the right hand man...so, I must start shifting some job over to the fence mah...of course, I know Samuel don't like it...also mentioning that the structure announcement is not out yet...I think maybe Stephane is right...the announcement will not be able to come out anyway...I have to make it officialize myself...like last time how Miss Chew do lah...Lord Alfonso ask for a discussion; this Miss Chew also lantak Lord Alfonso and sendiri jalan, sort of taking Samuel over to the other side...so, I just do the same thing lah...some work I still follow-up leh ok...I know Samuel want to remain everything status quo...

Thereafter, this Miss Chew can ask me when I am going to do the Tiering for Digital? For Upscale?

Sigh...I can only answer that I only have 1 pair of hand, these request can be park in the parking lot first...I only apply the current Tiering process for the Leaflet Cover Page & Bottom Panel, Supplier Self-Funded Panel Ads and the Press Ad Bottom panel...hahaha...then, ter-tiba this Miss Chew commented that this Samuel is overloaded with work wor...I want to roll my eyes already...whose fault is it? So many re-works is from whom? Cis betul this Miss Chew...

The Mayor also updated me that my Singaporean counterpart will be taking 2 months sabbatical leave wor; for marriage & health reasons. Effective on 1st December. Thereafter, the Singaporean counterpart will move to Banner Marketing; but originally was supposed to be SEA office; same grouping as me...how come leh...did she manage to negotiate her way out?

Then, today over the phone, The Mayor tells me that he feels like he hutang me money like that...

So, I also tak bagi face, I told him...as long as the organization chart is not out yet, my plate is very full...and you know that Miss Chew is not easy to manage...hahaha...I terus jalan with him...

The Mayor acknowledge my first issue and he sigh on the second...hahaha...

Mr. Horton's Secretary commented that I speak too casually to a boss...I also honest with Mr. Horton's Secretary...ini kerja, I tak boleh tahan already...sigh...I have nothing to lose...God's Promise is with me...my Victory is won...it is already mine...I will flourish, I will prosper, I will thrive...the question is where...

Later in the afternoon - The Mayor's email came in, must work with the Singapore & Malaysia Marketing Head for the upcoming weekly forecasts for both G13 & Upscale Banners...ok, kerja sudah masuk...I hope this Miss Chew will diam after this...even though I have a feeling that Miss Chew will find the opportunity to kenakan me balik in everything...

I believe my new role is to Plan, Align & Drive processes...while Miss Chew have to drive the plan; chasing lines, checking compliances, producing etc...but I foresee, difficult times are ahead because the both of us are not align...I really want to work with her, God - please make us workable...a dynamic duo...sigh...

This Alice...not enough advertised pages for next year Chinese New Year leaflet...so, she went to minta tolong at Miss Chew...this Miss Chew pula...throw it over to my court...what the...I am already doing the Leaflet Cover Page allocation, plus the Bottom Panel...Chinese New Year Press Ad also...not to mention the ad hoc allocation...so, I also baling back to Miss Chew - sorry, I am not going to look into the revision, my plate is full, I am park under the South East Asia office now...so Miss Chew said that the organization chart is not out yet...correct, but the work is gradually coming in...The Mayor is asking IT Department to grant Mr. Horton's Secretary & myself access for Singapore & Indonesia system...plus if the Drinks category can buy page for this year, why cannot for next year...and I don't hold the P&L of the department...if really want to look into the pages revision, can - then do it together, why I must go at it alone...Miss Chew is just so pandai to throw the ball over...so, must I catch it then...Miss Chew sure will balas dendam at me one...Miss Chew will revenge back...pening oh pening...

Go-Between Prayer

When we realize we're no match to handle life on our own, when we don't know what to say to God, the Spirit intercedes for God's people. What the Spirit says is a mystery, but we're assured that it always fits with God's will for our lives.

Strength For The Journey

All at once an angel touched him and said, Get up and eat.

When the journey is too much for us, we might need to rest and enjoy a healthy and satisfying meal. For when we are exhausted or hungry, we can easily succumb to disappointment or fear. But when God meets our physical needs through His resources, as much as possible in this fallen world, we can take the next step in serving Him.

Thank You for our limitations, which remind us that You're God and we're not.

So, we are back to Conditonal MCO...this Miss Chew pula don't want to work from home...is in Team A...then all of us (Samuel, Mr. Horton's Secretary, Erin, Heidi, Anis & myself is in Team B)...then this Miss Chew so mengada-ada wants me to be in the same team with her...fine lor...so I also drag Mr. Horton's Secretary with me...year end is coming, CNY 2021 is coming...easier to hold discussion mah...

Had a chat with my Singapore Counterpart...so, rupa-rupanya; she is still doing G13 work...another counterpart is doing the Upscale work...so, Singapore is still breakdown by Banner, while over here in Malaysia - sort of like breakdwown by functional but between Miss Chew's island and Marcus's island...got overlapping area and grey area...hahaha...well, selagi structure tak keluar, anything can happens...The Mayor can still change his mind...sigh...

Samuel shared with Mr. Horton's Secretary & myself that this Miss Chew wants to VSS-kan Heidi & Eric...adoi...Miss Chew ask Samuel to take back all of the work from the both of them and Samuel have to do it...remove 1; fine...but to remove 2...I don't know is it that the department structure have to be very lean or this Miss Chew knows how to cut or not...we are really lack of manpower now...if continue cutting...there will be no quality work, all is rushed job, no proper planning, everyone is pushing here & there...and don't want to take up the responsibilities...sigh... 

Run Toward Challenge

Wow, God - this is so refreshing...

Elisha's servant panicked when he saw his town surrounded by an enemy army. He ran to Elisha - Oh no, my lord! What shall we do? Elisha told him to relax - Those who are with us are more than those who are with them. Then God opened the servant's eyes and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all round Elisha.

If you strive to follow Jesus, you may find yourself in some dicey situations. You may risk your reputation, and perhaps even your security, because you're determined to do what's right. You may lose sleep wondering how it will all turn out. 

Remember, you're not alone. You don't have to be stronger or smarter than the challenge before you. Jesus is with you, and His power is greater than all rivals. Ask yourself Paul's question - If God is with us, who can be against us? Really, who? No one. Run toward your challenge, with God.  

Help me Jesus to truly see that You're bigger than any problem facing me today. Thank You for Your everlasting presence!

Mr. Horton's Secretary dismissed it as a mistake...

Or what if The Mayor did not made a mistake...Samuel did share with The Mayor that Samuel cannot work with Miss Chew, so The Mayor replace Samuel with the other Samuel?

Me: So we just handover to the other person lah...hahaha

Then, the WatsApp conversation ends. When The Mayor drops the email in the afternoon; I went to kacau Miss Chew and Miss Chew didn't replied back...upset with me kut...hahaha...

Me: I baru saw this, u MY lah...hahaha...SEA will support you

Meaning that Miss Chew will be very powerful, meaning that Miss Chew will look into every banner, not like now - she is so selfish, take care of Upscale, but anak tiri-kan G13.

So, what The Mayor say is true lah...Miss Chew will head Malaysia operations; SEA will have to work with all the local leads to drive the trade plan.

She tak dapat the Singapore portfolio...went to YC instead...in the SEA Office - for sure FurBall will take care of Digital...then, how does Mr. Horton's Secretary, the Singapore Counterpart and myself fit in leh? Adoi...become like another 3's a crowd thingy again? 

Lord Alfonso got mention previously that Lord Alfonso submitted YC, Miss Chew & my name to the top level. I was the one asking Lord Alfonso to put in my Singapore Counterpart's name onto it...but Lord Alfonso mention that the time is not now...so, how does then this Singapore Counterpart manage to get her name onto SEA? Yeah...maybe she level up while I was sleeping...adoi...dah lah, she is better than me in so many ways...never mind, God already say that I will flourish, prosper & thrive wherever I will be. Got job is already good enough...

Sigh, so with no further direction...I pun lantak lah...present the Merchant Forecast Template in the TPG; mention that only SW's team did the submission...but for sure God is at work again...because ter-tiba; Walker (Sir Terry's boss) bersuara...minta all the Commercial Directors to get their team to fill up...woah...and then Sir Symeon pula suddenly so vocal...actually I got remind Sir Symeon's team but I think they were too busy and over-looked. 

Thereafter, Sir Symeon's planner pula cari I about the template...hahaha...

I also share my test-drive experience with The Mayor, dia pun tak tolong banyak pun...since Sir Terry's team is so resistant - The Mayor ask me to go to talk to Sir Terry myself...campak me into the open sea...fine, I pun pergi lor...but this Sir Terry also do not understand that this is Tesco's philosophy...cannot blame him also...The English's style is to have the Merchant's forecast numbers; align with their building blocks to see whether the Budget & 8+4 Forecast can be achieved or not...for Sir Terry - his team already know what is the Budget & 8+4 Forecast numbers - so that is more than good enough. Then Sir Terry told me to tell that to my boring boss...hahaha...

So, like a messenger, I pass the message to The Mayor lor...The Mayor said go to Sir Terry's boss but didn't mention when & how...so ter-gantung lor... 

But then hor...I think God may a way again...Sir Terry ter-tiba come to me this week to talk about the forecast template but I was busy lah to see him...also ter-gantung lor...but never mind lah..I know God is working on it...

So, after a few days of kena bashing from the Commercial Team on the Merchants Forecast Template, SW ask me to meet up with her to discuss on another Category initiative (Breakfast Campaign). Then, SW mention about the template casually...God, I don't know what You did but You certainly have made a way for me...SW told me that SW understand what I am doing, why I am doing it...the TP Team is now like a Finance/Commercial Analysts - not doing our actual work of developing plans to bring in the customer foot-fall. SW also understands very well that this is a Tesco DNA. Thereafter, I am so glad that I can re-present to SW's team again; where in the first meeting, they were so defensive, hesitate & upset and was objecting it to the maximum with some nasty comments thrown in. I also taught them the shortcut way...hahaha...and of course I inform the team that I cannot bocor the shortcut way in the official meeting platform mah...I cannot make such a statement. Then SW taught me...next time, mention - off record we discuss outside...hahaha...

The Saddest Goose

As human beings, we were created for community. And in Ecclesiastes 4:10 - Solomon describes how vulnerable we are when we're alone. Pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. There's strength in numbers, he added, for though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

This is just as true for us spiritually as it is physically. God never intended for us to fly alone, vulnerable isolated. We need relationships with each other for encouragement, refreshment and growth.

Together, we can stand firm when life's headwinds gust our way. Together.  

Divinely Aligned

In His big picture, everything is in Perfect Alignment.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable His judgements and His paths beyond tracing out.

Even when things seem confusing or lost, God's divine plans are unfolding for our good and for God's honor and glory.

Dear God, remind me that Your purposes and plans for my life are beyond my understanding and help me to rest in You.  

Being Cared For

A  feeling of being cared for and supported can help sustain us when we're facing a challenge. An awareness of God's presence and support can especially bring hope to encourage our spirit.

Psalm 46; a favorite of many people going through trials reminds us - God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Be still and know that I am God. The Lord Almighty is with us.

Reminding ourselves of God's promises and His presence with us can be a means to help renew our hearts and give us the courage and confidence to go through hard times.

I'm grateful God for Your presence and Your promises. May I live out an attitude of confidence in You and Your ability to sustain me.
