Hearts & Goals

While holidaying in Singapore last month, Victoria, Niki, Jennifer Agnes & myself stayed at the Kam Leng Hotel. Singapore has a special place in my heart. Whenever I go down for a visit, I am often overwhelmed by what Singapore has to offer. As the hotel was just newly renovated, thus the rooms are spacious, sparkly clean, smell fresh, new, bright and very comfortable. No issues. You get what you pay for. It is a heritage hotel (my first time staying in one!) and it’s really brilliant. Kam Leng hotel was first established in 1927 by a mysterious owner whose identity remains unknown till today. It is situated along the busy and colorful Jalan Besar road and is interconnected with the Farrer Park, Boon Keng and Lavender MRT stations. The designs are minimalist, contemporary yet the new management still retains the old charm touches here and there; in its floor tiles, wall tiles, the windows, the lifts, the hotel’s key card, their toiletries packaging, there’s even an old bicycle park inside the hotel, 70's magazines available for reading at the lobby table, and many more. I guess they are trying to weave back some magic, modernity and nostalgia all into one. It’s fascinating that the hotel owners try to input a refreshing take of the old dame of what she used to be and recreate the mood & style by weaving new stories into the experience for its customers :)
