T-Man
This case I lagi marah betul at Celtic.
Celtic sounded me – it’s not that I don’t know how to manage, is that I don’t want to manage.
Another supplier…very cina apek one…push the supplier, no response. Hey Celtic, if this supplier is so responsive…you would not have to go up to Penang or meet the supplier outside from the office in KL to get the supplier to sign the 2016 contract ok.
Again, this supplier is not in my 2016 1st quarter and 2nd quarter trade plan. I outright told Celtic that in the face. Lantak lah if Celtic is not happy about it. As I don’t stay in a category long enough…I am not pro suppliers…I am more pro establishment. Seriously, I really don’t know how to manage such unresponsive suppliers. Not that I don’t want to. Then, what about you…you also have 3 suppliers which I think also you don’t want to manage them but pushes it to Wayne & Stewart to manage the business. Celaka betul. If this supplier is so responsive and good, this supplier would have made it big in G13 and with The English. That is why in G13, Madeleine also tak hiraukan this supplier and this supplier will also not be able to survive in The English process oriented environment. Only The Japanese department store can tahan with this supplier because they are department store format and this supplier is too big business with them already. I am sure if the buyer can kick the supplier out, they would.
I think this Celtic is protecting this supplier only because I suspect this supplier got help or have business link with Celtic’s other half. Celtic is just being protective & defensive with Celtic’s own suppliers. Whatever lah…if Stewart is really on Celtic’s side…I will explain and I can explain. Now at work, I also don’t bother Celtic anymore. I just do my work and less talking. Everyday Celtic is playing on the phone only. I still think that there is something wrong with the permanent assortment, missing strategies…good sales per sku kononya…yes that item is very good sales, but it did not uplift the total category. So, it’s sort of fail.
Highbury Gossips
Wah, this Celtic is very dangerous. What happen was…the management decides to do a major clearance. I think that is a fantastic idea. Clear off all of the old stocks…remove those aging, slow moving and unwanted merchandise…the company will have their cash flow back; minus the profit margins but we will have a strong cash flow which will allow us to buy the right stocks and also the new stocks in the future. So, in the Aging Clearance List…after I have put in my input…this Celtic went and did some item code exclusion, without informing me…whether I agree with it or not…at least inform lah right…say give me the freedom to do whatever I want…but belakang go and do something else pula…so, I was very lucky that Stewart scan through the list one more time. I decide to clear the item because this is not a permanent range. Celtic pula argue that Celtic wants to recycle the item codes. If want to do clearance at a flat price, I have already create those item codes as well, from the lowest denomination to the highest that the supplier have. As the description says Clearance RMX.XX, we can just put in any family group that we want, from kitchenware to tableware to stainless steel. Margin is lower? It’s clearance anyway isn’t it. Celaka betul…
Great Wave off Kanagawa
Hmmm…there is this one supplier…not in my trade plan…also not in my future plan as well…for a permanent range…perhaps on a promotion basis…so what happen was…for the glassware category…as this supplier have a debit balance issue where we have to do some buy in…Celtic mention that the new glassware assortment brought in will not affect my planogram…will only be cross merchandise at the Grocery Wine Section…however, whether this Celtic got write a proper email to channel down this communication or not…I am not too sure. I only overheard the other day…when Celtic was speaking to one of the store Division Manager…is that Celtic realize that the stocks brought in have no sell-thru yet, so Celtic email the store team to ask them whether they have display the stocks or not and where they display them…hmmm…the email also never cc to me as well…whatever lah…

Purpose Ignites Energy
So, MT is back from her holidays…I was expecting her to bring back some chocolates souvenirs for us…mana tahu…tak ada langsung…ok, I obviously didn’t receive any…but I am not so sure whether she brought back some for Jonas, Tin Min, Abigail and the rest of the colleagues that sits in the same row as MT. However, I saw MT brought 2 packets of chocolates/sweets/candies over to her lunch buddy :(
Energy Fuels Movement
According to Abigail, MT went to Italy for her holidays. I wonder which part of the country she went. But MT still can WatsApp both Abigail & Tin Min to follow up on their office work. Hahaha…

Not Perfect
We don’t have to act like we’re perfect with the people we know. It’s okay to be honest about our mistakes and struggles.
Being open about our struggles puts us on the same level with every other human alive – which is right where we belong!
However, because of Jesus Christ, our sin will not follow us into eternity.
It’s like the old saying – Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven.
Dear Jesus, I worship You as the only perfect human ever to live. Thank You for making it possible for me to have victory over sin.
The only difference between Christians and everyone else is forgiveness.

More Than We Can Imagine
Often our experience limits our prayers – a situation we can’t picture being different; destructive habits that remain unbroken, long-held attitudes that seen to defy change. As time passes, we may begin to feel that some things cannot be changed. But Paul says that is not true.
By God’s mighty power working in us, He is able to do far more than we may dare to ask or even dream of.
Dear Father, help us today to embrace all that You have given us in Your Son – forgiveness, hope, encouragement and power to live a new life. Never measure God’s unlimited power by your limited expectation.
Chin Up
When life is difficult and we feel we are under pressure, it’s so easy to see nothing but our problems.
Sometimes, Lord, it seems as if I can only see the knots and tangles in the tapestry of my life. Please help me to open my eyes and see the beautiful picture You are weaving.
Christ at the center brings life into focus.
Who’s Watching You?
Sometimes, Lord, life seems out of control and I don’t know exactly which direction to take. Thank You for overseeing my life and prompting me in the right way through Your Word and Your Spirit.
The Lord never lets us out of His Sight.
Never Give up!
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Many winners have reached success by climbing a special ladder called – never give up. However, there are also many who have lost the opportunity to achieve success because they gave up too soon. This can happen in every area of life – family, education, friends, work, service. Perseverance is a key to victory.
We too can allow the Scriptures to strengthen us to press on in the race marked out for us. For our God is both a Promise-Making and Promise-Keeping God and will reward those who faithfully finish the race.
Heavenly Father, give me strength of character and perseverance to serve you better. Help me not to get discouraged when things get tough but to rely on You to see me through.
The Best Is Yet To Come
O Lord my God, I praise You for all You have done in the past.
I look forward with thankfulness for all You will do in the future.
And I thank You for today and all Your blessings.

driving to really isolated places
Found this old picture – this is a notebook that Alice bought for Ramly, Pietro & myself (from The Popular Book Store somemore) for us to write down the notes during team briefing. Hahaha…if I remember it correctly, the reason that The Witch bought this A4 Note Pad for us is because during team briefing, sometimes we jot down what she say and sometimes we don’t. Hahaha…there was this one scene which I remembered quite fondly is where The Witch keep on making sure that Pietro write down every single word that Alice have said…hahaha…

The Leadership DOJO – 3
COMPETENCE
Team Leadership >> this is the ability to lead, mange and retain a team. Without this ability, the team will fail. The ability to manage a team is learnt through experience & practice.
Process Discipline >> having the competence of being able to build and develop processes is key. Each successful business has strong processes. Leaders must be able to observe process gaps and fix it. This requires deep process knowledge and capability.
Driving Excellence >> excellence is competence. In everything we do, we need to do it with excellence. This means making ourselves better every single day.
Bias For Action >> Leaders must be biased to action. Action is what differentiates winners from losers.
CONVICTION
Commitment To A Common Purpose >> great leaders always start with a vision. This vision energizes and directs the organization. Leaders must be able to ensure that they can drive everyone to be committed to the cause and not just be compliant to the cause. Personal conviction of the vision is key.
Self-Directed, Takes Initiative >> great leaders drive proactive initiatives. They do not wait. They have a deep conviction that directs them and do not need bosses o remind them of the vision.
Independent, Stay The Course >> Great leaders are focused on the final goal. They remain steadfast to the cause and never flinch till they achieve the goals outlined.
COURAGE
Lead Change, Continuously Improve >> having the courage to lead change is key. Everyone is going to be against change and reinvention. Everyone will champion against you. You need to have the courage to stay the course. You need to have the courage to keep driving change. You need to have the courage to stand strong even when all else is against you.
Bring Up Ideas, Overcome Hurdles, Eliminate Red Tape >> Having the courage to overcome hurdles is key to your success. You will feel like giving up many times. You must find the courage deep inside to keep pressing on.
Take Calculated Risks >> we all have to take risks. But never try to gamble or think you are invisible. Take calculated risks.
Influence Without Direct Authority >> it is easy to lead with a title. Much harder to really lead with influence. Great leaders have the courage to lead with influence. Influence is the heartbeat of leadership.
The Leadership DOJO – 2
Always Reinvent >> you need to continuously have the mindset that change is moving forward. Keep looking for opportunities in every obstacle and situation. And reinvent everything – your business model and strategy, your processes and structures and even your organizational culture – because everything is ripe for reinvention.
Executing Great Ideas & Reinvention Needs Time >> nothing can be done instantly. Every new idea takes time to see the fruits of execution. Don’t give up but relentless in execution. Give time for learning, growth and skills to be learnt and embraced.
Don’t Just Be Innovative, Build Innovative Cultures >> innovation has to be a process in your organization. More importantly, it has to be ingrained as part of your DNA, as part of your culture. Build elements of innovation into your culture and see innovation thrive.

The Leadership DOJO – 1
Leaders must become all-rounders to enable better decision-making and to broaden their perspective and understanding of various issues.
Having a life doesn’t burn you up but rather energize you.
You learn so much from meeting different people which you can bring into the workplace.
You need to be good outside of your current job >> you can be the best person at your role, but to be truly world-class you need to have deep interest in other areas of the organization. You need to be able to integrate and collaborate and you can’t do that if you only know your part of the role.
Take on roles that nobody wants >> your biggest growth comes from taking on experiences in areas that you may not necessarily enjoy or be familiar with.
Work on your AQ (Adversity Quotient) >> when you get knocked down, you get up. Reinvent yourself to suit to the environment. When people give you feedback, listen and take note of the feedback. Feedback is a key growth mechanic. Take the feedback, regardless how nasty, and try to adapt and change for the better. Deal with adversity as it comes. The more the better.
Find your own mentors >> have tones of mentors. Go to different mentors to seek different advise. Get an informal mentor to share your journey with. Mentor make a huge difference. They teach you how to manage across levels and also enable you to see things you may not have seen.
You got to have a CAN DO attitude >> always stay on track and keep focused on solutions. If you are positive in life, people will enjoy hanging out with you. In order to achieve positivity, you should hang out with positive people too. But most importantly, always believe you can. Go out and achieve whatever you hope to achieve. Believe you can do it.
Supermodel’s Secret
I had lunch with Stewart on Thursday. Stewart asks how am I doing right now, whether the situation is better compare to the first time when I arrive. I am still counting down days…hahaha…with Zila around, has my work efficiency improve. Well, I brief Stewart that currently I am letting Zila to do the Baking Planogram first. Follow by the Disposable Planogram. Once these planograms are in place…then Zila can start to drive the business moving forward.
Hmm…I am feeling very suspicious already, again...due to the timing, maybe Celtic got mention to Stewart on what I have mention to Seth earlier on.
Stewart mentions that Stewart got ask Celtic to improve on Celtic’s strategy. I don’t want Stewart to feel that I am back stabbing Celtic; my boss. So, enough is enough…final…full stop…no more discussing about Celtic unless it is very necessary. I mean come on; you want to hear from a friend’s perspective or from a third party’s perspective. This is team work here. It is frustrating to see that Celtic is not chipping in. Celtic is so full of potential but wasted. Celtic can deliver so much more. As a friend, I still can calm down a little, but as a third party, it is really frustrating. No wonder MT is also pissed off with Celtic.
I also share my below findings with Stewart. Stewart also agrees with me. I also notice we are also over relying on D31. I mean, I am also a member of D31, D31 is the pillar...but our customers also buy from other categories too. That is why whenever other categories does a range discount…their sales uplift is there because they never have that much of advertising exposure before. D31 base is just too strong. Stewart needs to find a balance.
Throw Happiness Around Like Its Colorful Confetti
William’s luggage portfolio has been handed back to Jonas. Looks like the freest Division Manager around is Celtic…hahaha…yet Celtic always said that Jonas is the most free and have the most buyers in Jonas's team. Come on lah...Jonas leads both the D32 & D33...of course Jonas's team have more buyers.
God’s Sandpaper
I hurt, Lord, but show me where I need to change. Show me what’s right.
My friend had acted as God’s sandpaper in my life. My feelings felt rubbed raw, but I sensed that how I responded would lead to the building of my character – or not. My choice was to submit to the smoothing process, confessing my pride and stubborn stance. I sensed that my bumps and imperfections didn’t glorify the Lord.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another, shaving off the rough edges in each other’s behavior. The process may bring about wounds, such as hurt but ultimately the Lord can use these words to help and encourage us to make needed changes in our attitude and behavior.
Lord, this shaping process hurts, but I want to submit to the process. Mold me and smooth me.
The Lord allows our rough edges to be smoothed over through the sandpaper of life.
The Wrong Horseshoe
One wrong word can change the careers or destinies of people.
So toxic is the tongue that no human being can tame the tongue.
It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.
Our words have the power to build up or tear down.

The Playground Borneo
Yesterday, Stewart finally announced that William will be joining Team Grocery. Apparently, Stewart mentions that Stewart approach William with the suggestion (but why William in the fist place?) and William accepted it. I wonder why? Is either William wants a new challenge or William has some issues with Jonas…I think the latter…hahaha. This Stewart also…didn’t praise William for William’s past contributions and also for this year BTS.
I have the opportunity to work with William in the late 2011 / early 2012…at that point of time…I find William to have good working ethics. Even for this year BTS – a RM9.90 backpack is a job well done. I thought the RM9.90 backpack will be in black, blue or red color…but William manage to source for a colorful bag. I told this to both Stewart and Celtic.
This Stewart sometimes…I believe a leader needs to be autocratic. That is the only way. But as we work in a so-called democratic society…we have to be like a iron fist in a velvet glove. Stewart has to be seen to be fair and just. But unfortunately Stewart is not. Now, I understand why MT told Marcus who then tell me that Stewart is too soft. Stewart layan Celtic and never correct Celtic…sigh…
D31 sales is still down. Everyone is up except for us. This Celtic also…can say that customers are not buying our merchandise. Really childish. Excuses.
I don’t know…I can be wrong…October…top 3 items in the Cloth Upkeep family is hanger, garment rack and ironing board. For the hanger…yes, we did many family discounts but the uplift is not there…could there be a possibility that the sales is all spread out…will it be better to invest to buy in for 1 sku with the right selling price and sufficient quantities. On the garment rack…the average selling price is higher than the new sku…therefore, the dollar value reduce? Same goes for the ironing board. We have to analyze the data…data tells a formation, a trend, a pattern. Then, the newly launch color for the storage boxes and drawers…is it a failure? A new item cannot be consider as successful even though it sell thousands in quantities…it can only be call a success if it uplifts the total category. For example, the container category grew by 36%...the pallet water tumbler only contributes 5% to the total sales. Not a success story. However, the branded supplier which generated 56% of the sales, then yes…that is a success story because it outpace the category's growth. Celtic's categories are pretty straight forward...unlike Stationery or mine where accumulated sku contribute to the bigger pie.
Thank You Ursula, Thank You Tommy, Thank You Marcus, Thank You Miguel.
Fill Your Love Bank
Pay a compliment to someone today and make sure you mean it. Pay the compliment face – to – face or send an email. It will come as an unexpected surprise.
Bring flowers >> it will create a magical and memorable experience for the receiver. The person will never forget it.
Give friends a nice birthday greeting by writing a warm and personal greeting for each person.
Create a gift box in your home >> you can try by taking an empty box or a piece of luggage and start filling it with small, inexpensive gifts that you find wherever you go. When the right time comes, you will be able to find something there to give to someone you care about.
Put a note with a poem or a quote to say thanks to someone you care about.
Say thanks. Say I love you. Notice the good in others. Fill your bank of love. Then feel free to take out a little bit of love in the tough times. The secret to a healthy relationship is a healthy bank balance of love.
Stop Anger From Consuming You
Notice and accept your anger >> when you are angry, notice it. Acknowledge your anger and accept it. Realize fully that I am getting angry.
Realize that anger is self-created >> anger does not come from anywhere else but rather it is your unconscious response to a situation. It is self-created. It is not from outside.
Anger is created by the false >> anger comes from the ego or the fear that is inside of you. These fleeting feelings are untrue and unreal; they are nothing but the inventions of the mind.
Breathe >> take a few deep breaths till you feel calmer. Relax.
Let it go
Anger can only be conquered by non-anger >> a father told his angry son to put a nail in the wall every time he gets angry. He put many. Then the father asked him to pull out a nail for every day that he was not angry. He did. The father then said, look at the wall. You may have pulled out the nails but the holes remain. Anger damages things permanently.

Human Race
Ultimately, we find true rest through recognizing the presence of God and trusting Him. While we take our responsibilities seriously, we also recognize that we can relax our grip on our work and careers, our families and ministry, and give them over to God in faith. We can take time each day to tune out the distractions, put away the tense restlessness and reflect in gratitude on the wonder of God’s love and faithfulness. So feel free to stop and take a breath. Get some real rest.
Lord, I thank You today for all You have given me to do. Help me truly rest in You – physically, emotionally and spiritually.
We do not rest because our work is done; we rest because God commanded it and created us to have a need for it.
Free From Fear
Lord, I’m aware of my worries and fears…and I place them in Your hands.
Give me peace as I face the day.
I want to be a better person.
I want to add value to my life.
I want to enhance my life.
I want my life to be enriched.
Living by Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness & Finance.
To have Balance, Purpose & Laughter.
Gratitude, Be Grateful, To Give.
Pixel Garage
Celebrated Celtic’s Birthday yesterday:
Flingstones Cafe, SS15 Subang Jaya >> their Oink Oink Ribs…still Naughty’s Nuri & Morganfield’s taste better. I think it is their gravy…bbq sauce but the spicy kind…not the sweet type. And their meat is not that tender. A bit on the rough side. Babi Fried Rice was good…crispy pork lard, chinese sausage, crispy bacon with century egg is absolutely a nice combination. And I love their Matcha Latte as well.
OW:L Espresso >> a Korean café…as I had my Matcha Latte earlier on, I skip my drink here but we have the frosty bite though. The chocolate chip cookies is soaked in a mug of dry ice. Once you start to bite on the cookies…there will be lots of fog surging from your mouth. It’ a cool and refreshing experience.
Aboong >> a Korean fish waffle ice cream. The waffle is in a shape of a fish. You can choose to stuff red bean, custard or nutella into the fish stomach. Then the yogurt ice cream and marshmallow will top the whole thing off. Kind of unique. I definitely will go back there again.
Go Do That
So, Seth drop by the other day…this Celtic again…speaks on my behalf…as though Celtic knows what I have gone through. I don’t know whether I did the wrong thing or not…I just being very evil and drove the knife even further…I told Seth that I am very grateful to My Source & Emerson…they help me by talking my good points to Miguel…I love working under The English’s structure…I still keep in touch with our ex-colleagues…Trix came back recently etc…I really just drove the knife in…evil evil me…I have grown up ok…I was also being very mean when I re-emphasize that Celtic is very free...Celtic ask Seth whether Seth believe it or not...Seth said that Seth believe...hahaha...now I also realize Christine…who use to be under Celtic…have also grown up too and move on…only Celtic did not to a certain extent. Maybe Ursula is right...the people that I mix with...
Hendrik’s Gin
This case…I believe it is Celtic who reka the cerita. The timing is too coincidence. It arises my suspicious.
What happen was…Seth is back into the retail market…as a supplier. So, Seth wants to have a lunch appointment with us…so, I told Seth to make an appointment with Celtic first because Celtic always have lunch with Celtic’s other half every day…I’m available for lunch most of the time.
Then, following that…Celtic said that people in the market said that we got into an argument. Supplier said kononya lah…but as far as I know…I have not mentioned anything bad about Celtic to the suppliers. So, cannot be from the suppliers. I only inform Seth that Celtic and I don’t have our lunch together only. So, it’s either Seth misinterpret or this Celtic mereka cerita again. Cannot be from Marcus & Tommy…I think the both of them have more important things to do. I only reply back this to Celtic…we grow up already, no need to stick together.
Seriously…Juan Carlos is indeed very far-sighted…I don’t want to be consumed by my own ego-ness and being arrogant here…but I think I indeed have grown up. Somebody did not grow up. Somebody is being very insecure and full of jealousy. Never have the confidence. Confidence only derived from putting down others. There is no truth in this story and I don’t give a damn about it. I couldn’t be bother. It is just so trivial. If Celtic wants to disrupt me...yes, it did bother me a little bit...but when I analyze back that it is Celtic's very own doing...I only look down at Celtic even more.
The best revenge of getting back to Celtic – is living a good life :)
Napier
Then, Celtic told Stephanie who then informs me that Celtic notices that I am feeling very sad lately...making up stories again…sigh…I am not feeling sad…it’s just that whenever Celtic wants to talk crap with me…I tak layan Celtic…so lately Celtic talks a lot to Wayne…it’s office hours…its working time…let’s focus the energy, let’s harness the positivity and channel them into our work…it’s not that I am not a fun person…there is always a time for it.
Patterns, Colors & Prints
Celtic reveals that William will leave Team Baz and join Team Grocery. I’m quite surprise that William have been selected.
Then, Stephanie also reveal to me (it was Celtic who told Stephanie) that it was either William or me…but Celtic always like to portray Celtic as superior and is good at protecting Celtic’s staff. I am curious on why Stewart did not bring up this matter to me...if indeed I am one of those who have been short-listed...I think both Stewart and myself have no pretensions and we have a very open & honest relationship. Therefore, I suspect what Celtic told Stephanie is not truthful for me to buy in…I think these days Celtic is also like Alice…drama…give wrong information…give wrong impression…like to api-apikan the keadaan…sigh…
Tops, Bottoms & Shoes
,
Hahaha…I thought MT will start on leave tomorrow. Rupa-rupanya, MT already on leave on last week Friday. However, according to Celtic…MT; was by right should start her leave tomorrow…not on Friday…it was MT who saw the wrong time on her air ticket. MT thought her flight was on Friday night, not on Friday morning or afternoon…whatever it was lah.
If I knew it earlier, I will try to bump into MT on Thursday. Well, yes…I am kind of still stalking her…hahaha…you see, from where I sit, I can see clearly when MT leaves her place to go to the pantry or to use the washroom…so, when MT is on her way back, I will then get up and head to the pantry to fill up my water bottle. So, we will bump into each other. Sometimes MT will give me a sweet smile…sometimes a sneaky smile…hahaha…
